This will be a multi part video on foundry pattern making. A wooden pattern is used to make an impression in the sand mold. A silica sand core is inserted to produce the cylinder bore in the casting. A wood pattern of the cylinder is turned on the Clausing lathe.

    Once again, thanks for your efforts – good stuff !
    Chances are your bandsaw blade is sharp, but may have a high tpi. To cut maple (or similar material) at that thickness you should have a blade with 3 tpi (teeth per inch) or less. A little canola oil (PAM in the grocery store) on the blade can also help.
