I recently bought a used coin-operated pool table. I’m trying to find out what company made it. Not positive, but it may be a Venture because that’s what is casted into the cash box. Any ways on the metal corner of the table there is a horse engraved in the castings. I’m looking for either the website of the company or a owners manual for it.

Venture is the only one I came up with after searching several places.
A few other places to try would be "Brunswick" pool tables and "A.E. Schmidt" company in St. Louis.
Those two have been in business over 100 years and would be a good start for any information about pool table identifications.
The horse on the corner might not really mean anything special. It could be just for a design.
But then Valley tables have a cat head, "Puma" on the corners of their tables signifying Valley Pumas.
Good luck in your search.

.

How do people find these gigs?

check around you for local theater and student and ind. film auditions. their open calls. you can find
community theaters in your phone book. any college near you that has film programs will have student films you can try out for. look in the classifieds of your newspaper for ind. film auditions. for
professional tv and movie auditions, you will need the proper agent to know about them and you will need to be located where they are.

I am a 15 year old actor/model in Central Florida. I currently have 4 agencies throughout Florida and have done work in commercial, film, etc. I was just wondering how I can get castings or jobs out of state. Is there a website of some sort or do I need to try to register with an agency out of state?

I’m an LA Actor giving you the REAL DEAL!

Here’s the cliffsnotes version of what you can do to do to get into acting and eventually get an agent:

1.EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST!

READ (check Samuel French, libraries, and bookstores):

*=Highly recommend

Acting business:

Improv
-Anything by Viola Spolin

Auditioning/Cold Reading:
*How to Get the Part Without Falling Apart-Margie Haber
*Audition-Michael Shurtleff
*The 15 Guideline Map to Booking-Amy Lyndon
-The Best of You-Craig Wallace
-Secrets to Successful Cold Readings-Glenn Alterman

2.GET TRAINING!

Regardless of how "naturally talented" you might be, you NEED training, PERIOD!

Definitely take classes in:
-Cold Reading/Auditioning
-Improv
-Scene study
-Commercials

3. Get GREAT headshots

Here’s is a good place to start:

http://bbs.backstage.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8011031/m/246101692

4. Build Your Resume and Reel Doing Student films and Indie Films. Also do plays to build your acting experience.

Sample Resume:

http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww80/ELDORADO59/Sampleresume.jpg

How to make an ACTING resume:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091011203729AAkQetj

The ONLY LEGIT Online sites that you can find jobs on your own through:
ALL SITES NOT LISTED BELOW ARE QUESTIONABLE!

-ActorsAccess.com
-LACasting.com
-Nowcasting.com
-NYCasting.com
-NYCastings.com
-Backstage.com

Free but proceed with caution:
-Castingcallsearch.com
-Mandy.com
-Craigslist

5. Get an Agent

Look up LEGIT agencies here:

http://www.agentassociation.com/

http://www.sag.org/content/find-agent

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in

DON’T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print

Well, you don;t get jobs out of state unless one of your agents gets it for you. It is quite impossible to have an agent in another state unless you are an actor of some repute. How would you afford to go to an audition out of state or as far away as LA or NYC? Websites will just take your money and give you nothing of value until such time as you are able to attend auditions that they list. There are only half a dozen or so valid websites anyway.

sounds like a good science fair project.

Castings are also improving the soil structure and organic matter content which has other benefits. Plants don’t live by fertilizer alone. I’d use the casting as one component of a starter mix, not an entire mix. Nor would I use fertilizer in a starting mix. The mix alone should have enough nutrients to get the plants going without bombarding them with fertilizer salts which may burn the young roots.

I want to brew some aerated compost tea, but I’ve read that worm castings are supposed to be the best. Does anyone know if worm castings will really get you better results?

I could just use regular compost, garden soil, or cheaper stuff, but are worm castings that much better?

Worm castings are better than "regular" compost, and certainly better than garden soil, for making aerated compost tea. I put "regular" in quotes because any cheap compost you buy is highly likely to be of poor quality, heavy on the sawdust and light on anything actually nutritious. If you know how to make good garden compost, it’s comparable to worm castings for making aerated compost tea. I use both for my compost teas. The last chamber of the worm gut is loaded with beneficial bacteria and fungi, and the castings are inoculated with these organisms as they pass through into the soil or worm bin.

An aerated compost tea made with worm castings increases the biodiversity of the soil it’s added to, and the biodiversity on the leaf surfaces it’s applied to. More diversity means more competition for plant pathogens, which are usually weak competitors in a natural environment or organic garden.

Worm castings can be expensive, but the amounts needed for aerated compost teas are small. If you want to make your own, there’s information on setting up a worm composting system here:
