I’m trying a new recipe and it calls for a bundt pan. I couldn’t find one of those in the store so I bought an aluminum fluted tube pan. Are they interchangeable?
No the fluted pan is wavy too… so they must be essentially the same thing. Thanks!
yes

After the pour. Aluminum, like any heavy metal will recycle 100% (save the stuff still stuck in the crucible). The ingots are perfectly size for the crucible. Once I get my first foam carving done I can just throw these in and re-melt them.

I want something safe, this is a huge Wagner Ware antique roasting pan, not the Magnalite ones. Anyone ever heard of soaking inside with lemon juice and cream of tartar or a paste of baking soda and water for the outside?
Yes … lemon juice and baking soda work wonders. You could also try using ketchup … I know it sounds weird, but it sometimes works. I think it’s the vinegar in the ketchup that actually does the polishing. SO… maybe a past of vinegar and baking soda would work… and it won’t hurt anything…

Here I am casting a part for a Crayford Style Focuser to be used with a 8″ Newtonian telescope I’m building. I’m using a propane furnace, a graphite crucible, and the “mold” is a tin soup can. I need a stock of aluminum about 3″ in dia. Before you say it, I know it is not safe to cast metal with flip-flops and shorts, but it’s the middle of summer in Phoenix here…

its so much better! after replacing chairs just about annually -i purchased cast aluminum I’ve used them for 3 seasons now and they still look new-last year (because of storage issues)they spent the winter outside …in Connecticut! just a quick rinse with the hose is all the upkeep you really need to do! i now suggest it to all my clients!

I used the pot for canning chicken soup in jars and can’t get the stains out by scrubbing or soaking in vinegar.
sos pads are the best for any aluminum cookware.

I have an engine make of cast aluminum and a steel bolt stuck in it. I drilled the bolt out but i cannot remove the shell with the threads. Is there something i can use to cause the steel bolt to rust/dissolve but not attack the aluminum block?
Yes. Dilute sulphuric acid will dissolve the iron (steel) but won’t touch the aluminium.

This is not cast iron. It is a 20 quart cast aluminum pot. It has what looks like grease stains on it. I have tried almost everything to get this back to the way it was. Please if you know someone who has cast aluminum cookware ask them how to restore it for me.
