You can use a metallized coating applied by a twin wire arc machine or plasma. See below.
Using the Lost Wax Found Bronze Casting technique a workshop was conducted @ 205 Lavinia in Milton De. by Terry Thommes. Artists have used this technique for thousands of years. In essence, it replaces the original model first with wax , then with bronze. The basic process remains unchanged. Find out more about the process, materials and sculptor Terry Thommes.

I need to be able to repair aluminum and bronze casting defects, and weld steel as well. My material thickness rarely exceeds 3/16 or 1/4 inch. What characteristics should I look for in a TIG for these purposes?
It really depends on your budget. The mainstays are Miller or Lincoln ,for a reason and any good welding supply will help you find the right size. But if you have a decent arch welder, just get a converter box and torch set up. For a cheap starter, look up harbor freight (google there on line store). they have a small tig for about $300 but put it on sale for $200 about every other week. run like crap, but get the job done. don’t forget to budget for a tank of gas. and there the bigger the better.
Melted bronze is poured into the heated ceramic mold (still warm from the kiln, or heated so it won’t crack when the molten metal is poured into it).

ya i have a big cast iron pan and i want to make bronze sheets will the iron stand up to the heat ?
if you want bronze sheets of even thickness they need to be rolled not cast. Buy them, it’s going to be much, much better than what you could do and not much more expensive then buying the bronze in ingot form.
I can’t see any advantage in making ones own bronze sheets instead of buying them.
Here are some examples of what sheets you could buy in silicon bronze:

though you would better look for a local supplier as I doubt you would want to buy a whole sheet. A local supplier might let you have smaller parts. You probably could get fairly small pieces in some arts and crafts stores.
I am considering buying a pendant cast from white bronze which I am told is more durable than pewter, but how does it stack up with regular bronze?
White bronze is copper, tin and zinc and it is used instead of nickel, because so many people are or get allergic to nickel. You shouldn’t have a problem with it. I don’t know if it is exactly as hard as bronze, but it does compare well with nickel.
