Robo CNC Router : Part 06 : X-axis leadscrew, and some Aluminum casting

Replaced the X lead screw for a ballscrew 20×05.

In this video you see the assembly off the x-axis.
And I’m casting a aluminum bracket for the ballnut

Max x-axis travel 3000mm/min

    If all the aluminum is melted, i take all the dross off.
    After that i put some caustic soda in there to get the last dross floating, and take that off.
    After that i use some normal kitchen salt to degas the bath, don’t ask me how it works :) i just watch a lot off youtube vid’s hehe

    Do you use something to keep the cast aluminum from getting air pockets, I don’t see pitting.

    Yes i really like to do that stuff, first off all i reuse old aluminum…
    And second off all, every guy loves playing with fire :) when im melting all the steel inside is red and yellow hot, and the aluminum melts in a few seconds, Just great to do it lol
